കേരളത്തിൽ രണ്ടു വര്‍ഷത്തിനുള്ളില്‍ ഹൃദ്യം പദ്ധതി വഴി ചികിത്സ ലഭിച്ചത് 1216 കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക്. 2019ല്‍ ഇതുവരെ 1070 കേസ് രജിസ്റ്റര്‍ ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്.
സങ്കീര്‍ണമായ ഹൃദ്രോഗങ്ങളുമായി ജനിക്കുന്ന കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് സൗജന്യചികിത്സ ലഭ്യമാക്കുന്ന ഈ പദ്ധതിയില്‍ ചികിത്സ എവിടെയായാലും സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ പണം അടയ്ക്കും. പദ്ധതി 2017ലാണ് തുടക്കം കുറിച്ചത്.
ജനിച്ച സമയം മുതല്‍ 18 വയസുവരെയുള്ള കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് ഹൃദയസംബന്ധമായി ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന ഏതൊരു അസുഖത്തിനും ശസ്ത്രക്രിയയ്ക്കും അര്‍ഹതയുണ്ട്. 25 കോടിയിലേറെ രൂപയാണ് വര്‍ഷം സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ ചെലവഴിക്കുന്നത്.
വര്‍ഷം രണ്ടായിരത്തോളം കുട്ടികളാണ് ഹൃദയ സംബന്ധമായ അസുഖവുമായി ജനിക്കുന്നത്. ഇവരുടെ ചികിത്സാ ചെലവ് മിക്ക കുടുംബത്തിനും താങ്ങാനാവുന്നതല്ല.
ആരോഗ്യ വകുപ്പിന്റെ ദീര്‍ഘവീക്ഷണത്തോടെയുള്ള ഇടപെടല്‍ ഹൃദ്യം പദ്ധതിയെ ജനകീയമാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. സാധാരണക്കാര്‍ക്കും പാവപ്പെട്ടവര്‍ക്കും ഏത്ര പ്രയോജനം ചെയ്യുന്നുണ്ട്.

കുരുന്നു ഹൃദയങ്ങളുടെ കരുതലിനായി വകുപ്പ് മന്ത്രി കെ.കെ. ശൈലജ നേരിട്ട് രംഗത്ത് ഇറങ്ങാറുണ്ട് . കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം ശ്രീചിത്രയിലേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുവന്ന 15 ദിവസം പ്രായമായ കുഞ്ഞിനെ അമൃതയില്‍ പ്രവേശിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞതും ഇതു മൂലമാണ്.
